I’m not saying for sure that loading to the hard drive causes this problem, but it does seem pretty suspicious, as least in my case. I find that particularily odd, as this is the only time I have ever had the game uploaded to my hard drive, all of my other playthroughs were strictly off of the disk and I never had this problem. It hasn’t seemed to have affected every save of mine yet, I only get the “infinite loading screen” from time to time, and this is the first time playing through that is has ever happened to me. The fix itself is pretty simple, although to do it every time you have to load your game would consume a lot of extra time throughout a playthrough of Fallout New Vegas. Okay, you can replace “think” in that last sentence with “have been praying desperately upon bloodied knees to the video game gods”, but you get the idea.
Luckily I have found a fix, it takes a few minutes, but it has worked every time so far and I think it will continue to work. I have been having trouble lately with a Fallout New Vegas save file that won’t load while doing our let’s play series on the game. No word yet on PS3, but hopefully we can get confirmation on that soon.
UPDATE: Hello Knights! We have recently discovered that this fix will also work for the PC version.
